Award winning a cappella group The Undertones from Northwestern University in Chicago, IL, will be touring the Greater Boston Area in early December 2011, will be teaching workshops at several area schools and will be presenting several fun entertainment options for families for the holidays.
The Undertones pride themselves on maintaining a very high level of musicianship while also keeping the fun, silliness, and love alive. CARA nominated and ICCA award-winning, the Undertones have consistently demonstrated excellence in competition. In the ICCA 2010 Quarterfinal and Semifinal, they placed among the top a cappella groups in the Midwest and took home awards for Best Arrangement at both competitions.
The Undertones’ recording of "Get Set" was selected for inclusion on the album "Voices Only 2009: The Best of Collegiate A Cappella!" and their recording of "Before the Worst" was just selected for inclusion on the "BOCA: Best of College A Cappella 2011 compilation CD!" The Undertones have released three studio albums: "Seriously Now," "enter soUnd," and “Boots and Cats.” (available on YouTube!). They tour nationally and internationally and have sung in places like Washington D.C., California, Philadelphia, St. Louis, Miami and Edinburgh, Scotland. In March 2012 they will be performing on Northwestern’s campus in Doha, Qatar!
On Sunday December 11th at 3pm The Undertones will be interviewed and will perform on All A Cappella on radio station WERS 88.9 FM Boston, Ma, 96.5 FM New Bedford, Ma, and 101.5 FM Gloucester, Ma, or streaming online at www.wers.org
On Monday December 12th at 7pm, The Undertones will perform at North Andover High School, 430 Osgood Street, North Andover, MA. Admission is free.
On Tuesday December 13th at 7.30pm The Undertones will perform at The First Unitarian Society of Newton, 1326 Washington St, West Newton, MA. Tickets are available at the door and will be $10 for adults and $5 for children under 10. There will also be an informal talkback session after the show
On Friday, December 16th at 7:30pm at The Orpheum Theater, 1 School St, Foxboro, MA “A Cappella Soup”, will feature The Undertones along with Improv Soup, The Un-Common Theatre Company’s Teen Improvisational Troupe, and Brandeis University’s renowned a cappella group Starving Artists. Enjoy the power of the human voice and the joy of the human funny bone as these three acclaimed groups get together for a full evening of song and laughter. This two act show will consist of musical sets from The Undertones and Starving Artists along with long and short form improvisational scenes, based on audience suggestion, from Improv Soup. The evening will be suitable and enjoyable for the whole family!
