NSMT alumni from Broadway and the NYC television community will be appearing at Joe's Pub and The theatre at Saint Peters, home of The York Theatre Company in New York City. The not-for-profit North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) in Beverly, MA is facing severe financial difficulties. The NSMT has provided performing arts and educational programming to millions for 55 years. Effects of the crumpling economy, lower than expected donations and ticket sales all season long have left the theatre unable to cover its operating costs - a national decade-long trend that is impacting theaters across the country. In light of the current situation, the NSMT alumni from Broadway and the NYC television community will be appearing at Joe's Pub. Brian Usifer and select members of the NSMT orchestra will play as well.

Barry Ivan, NSMT's Artistic Director and Executive Producer is leading the NYC fundraising efforts. "We so appreciate our alumni coming together in support of our theatre," "This fundraising event will help us keep this artistic jewel alive. We believe financial and creative strategies will ensure the theatre's future." says Ivan.

Operating since 1955, NSMT has evolved into the largest non-profit producing theater in New England, with approximately 350,000 patrons annually. NSMT has gained a national and regional reputation for artistic achievement, specifically in the areas of developing new works and providing outstanding theater arts and education programs. NSMT has received numerous industry awards including IRNE Awards, the Elliot Norton Award, the Rosetta Le Noire Award from Actors' Equity, and the Moss Hart Award. NSMT annually produces a six musical subscription series and an acclaimed concert series. With its celebrated Theater for Young Audiences program, a school touring program, and year-round classes for children, NSMT has become one of the region's leading providers of theater arts and education.

Scheduled to appear at "Broadway Sings for North Shore Music Theatre" are Robert Newman from CBS's Guiding Light and Broadway performer Aaron Lazar as well as brothers Bob Walton and Jim Walton, Kate Baldwin, Jim Stanek, David Larsen, Kate Rockwell, Devin Richards, Jacquelyn Piro Donovan, Sally Wilfert and Teri Dale Hansen. Also scheduled to appear are Michael Kadin Craig, Molly Ephraim, Melissa Lone, Addi McDaniel, David Nathan Perlow, Emily Walton (daughter of Bob Walton) and others. Music Director Brian Usifer and members of the NSMT Orchestra will also perform. Additional performers will be announced.
