New Repertory Theatre in collaboration with Boston Center for American Performance, Boston University, Israeli Stage, and Greensboro Arts Alliance & Residency/Mirror Theater will present several of playwright Joshua Sobol's works during the month of March and April, as well as a conversation with Mr. Sobol interviewed by WBUR's ARTery Editor Ed Siegel on Sunday, March 26, 7:30pm at the Mosesian Center for the Arts.

Mr. Sobol is in Boston as part of the In Residence at Israeli Stage program. These events will coincide with the Boston University New Play Initiative New Works Fest, which will be curated by playwright and Boston University professor Kirsten Greenidge, both of which will include and celebrate works with sociopolitical themes.

"The impact of theatre on our culture and society is vital," says New Rep Artistic Director, Jim Petosa. "Its effects are resounding, especially in times of societal upheaval and turmoil, when theatre becomes a beacon, a place where ideas can be dissected and discussed. Over his impressive career Joshua Sobol has been a foremost practitioner in the realm of theatrical activism, which is why we are pleased to be partnering with so many esteemed organizations to present his works during the months of March and April. Combined with Boston University's New Play Initiative New Works Festival, it is our hope that this month-long journey will inspire, enlighten, and provide the necessary forum in which we all may come together in conversation."

Boston Center for American Performance serves as the professional production extension of the Boston University College of Fine Arts School of Theatre. Expanding the definition of the College as an "artistic home," BCAP is designed to foster significant interaction between members of the professional performing arts world and the College. BCAP employs professional artists to collaborate directly with student artists in a way that encourages intergenerational learning not only through the forging of strong teacher/student relationships, but through the creation of artistic collaborations between artists of differing levels of experience. It is the College's conviction that such collaborations will have a profound impact on the College's educational mission, become a significant source of inspiration for the creation of new work and/or new approaches to existing work, and provide the College with a professional extension of its expanding and diverse aesthetic.
