North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) is holding auditions for its production of DISNEY HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2. Auditions will be held on Sunday, September 28 (schedule is below) in NSMT’s Theatre Arts & Education Building behind the theater at 62 Dunham Road in Beverly, MA (travel directions at www.nsmt.org). NSMT is one of only two regional theaters to obtain the rights to DISNEY HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 which will be presented December 18, 2008 through January 11, 2009. Tickets are on sale now and the Box Office will be open on this day.
North Shore Music Theatre is committed to an inclusive casting policy known as non-traditional casting. All actors regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity or the presence of a disability are encouraged to audition. Auditions will be run by NSMT Artistic Director and Executive Producer Barry Ivan, who will also direct and choreograph the show; Assistant Choreographer Christopher Saunders; and NSMT Director of Dance Myvonwyn Hopton. Musical director is Brian Usifer.Adult AEA & non-AEA Auditions are by appointment only. Youthful-looking male and female adults 18 and older can audition for teenage high school student roles in Disney High School Musical 2 by appointment only. AEA and non-AEA auditions will be held on Sunday, September 28 starting at 2:00 pm.Auditioners should be well trained in hip-hop and jazz dance; acro-skills are a plus. Male dancers should be adept with a baseball or basketball. Actors should wear figure-flattering summer attire and jazz shoes or dance sneakers (no street shoes, please). Be warmed up and ready to dance. High pop/rock voice styles are required and actors should be prepared to sing 16 bars of an up tempo pop song. Males should bring music that shows the upper part of their register. Bring your own sheet music marked with the starting and stopping points; an accompanist will be provided.Videos
