Westport Country Playhouse presents an award-winning love story with unexpected twists, Mary's Wedding, directed by Tazewell Thompson. The play, written by Stephen Massicotte, runs June 21 through July 7.
"It is the eve of Mary's wedding – a night filled with dreams of love, war and what might be. Through an exquisite dreamscape, playwright Massicotte weaves Mary and Charlie's gentle love story – from the prairie barn where they first met during a thunderstorm, to the battlefields of France," states press notes, "With letters, memories and elegant illusions, this haunting romance chronicles the exhilaration of first love set against the tumultuous events of the Great War. Set in Canada immediately before, during and after World War I, Mary's Wedding is a story of two young lovers told as flashbacks within a dream."
Cast members are Hannah Cabell as Mary/Flowers and Lee Aaron Rosen as Charlie. The production team includes Donald Eastman (set), Linda Cho (costumes), Robert Henderson (lighting), Fabian Obispo (sound).
The performance schedule for Mary's Wedding will be Tuesdays at 8PM, Wednesdays at 2 & 8PM, Thursdays & Fridays at 8PM, Saturdays at 4 & 8PM, and Sundays at 3PM. Opening night, including a post-performance party, will be on Saturday, June 23.
