MEN ON BOATS, BOUNDLESS Premiere and More Highlight Cape Rep Theatre's 2017 Season

Cape Rep Theatre is celebrating its 32nd season with an exciting line up of plays and musicals, all of them Cape Cod premieres, one fresh from New York.

The Indoor Theater season will open with Richard Nelson's Regular Singing, followed by Jaclyn Backhaus' ingenious comedy, Men On Boats. Next up is the ten-time Tony-winning musical, Billy Elliot the Musical, music by Elton John, book and lyrics by Lee Hall, followed by William Finn and James Lapine's imaginative musical comedy, A New Brain.

The season will close with the world premiere of Boundless, an original play with music by Damian Baldet and Alison Weller that explores the Cape Cod fishing industry. Boundless was commissioned by Cape Rep and was funded in part by Mass Humanities, the Cape Cod Foundation, the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod and the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

The Outdoor Theater will host Cape Rep's Summer Children's Series which includes an original play written and directed by local theater artist Holly Erin McCarthy, The Epic Adventure of Lulu's Lemonade Stand, and Pitter Patter Puppets, Mary Wilson's delightful interactive puppet show.

In addition, Cape Rep will present several special events including Summer Starlight, a benefit for the theater on Sunday, August 6, and the return of All Our Best on September 1 and 2. We will also be adding some new programming on dark nights this summer including a new musical revue Sunday and Monday evenings featuring company members Jared Hagan and Trish LaRose June 24-July 22, and the presentation of new works created in our Playwrights' Lab on Mondays August 7, 14 and 21. The season will close with our annual Holiday Gala at the Captain Linnell house on Thursday, December 7.

Boundless is a new play with music that explores how locAl Fisherman navigate the rough waters of politics, science, economics and tradition to survive in today's world. Created from interviews with Cape Cod fisherman, their families and the organizations that keep them fishing, Boundless takes us into the heart of their story.

On seven acres of land in Nickerson State Park in Brewster, Massachusetts, Cape Rep Theatre is the steward of the beautiful land and historic buildings that are home to the company's three theaters, including the only outdoor theater on Cape Cod.
