Berkshire Theatre Festival and Colonial Theatre Artistic Director/CEO Kate Maguire is proud to announce a new works festival to take place this October. Made in the Berkshires will be held over two October weekends, October 14-16 and October 21-23, at both the Unicorn Theatre in Stockbridge as well as the Colonial in Pittsfield. Tickets for the event will be $15 for individual sessions, $50 for the Opening Night performance and party on October 14, and $100 for an all access pass.

Made in the Berkshires will feature cutting-edge theatrical works, live music, film, short stories and dance in a festival atmosphere like no other. New and innovative pieces will be created and presented by local Berkshire County playwrights, actors, directors and performers. Broken up into two hour blocks, Made in the Berkshires will allow audiences to get a look at the breadth and depth of the artistic talent that has landed in Berkshire County while celebrating the best in the visual and performing arts.

The festival will be curated by Hilary Somers Deely and Barbara Sims, two local artists who have helped create the rich cultural tapestry that permeates the Berkshires.

According to Maguire, "Made in the Berkshires capitalizes on the incredible wealth of local talent within a few mile radius of our three theatres. We're committed to helping foster artistic expression in our Berkshire community. Hilary and Barbara have been active members of the local arts scene. Hilary co-produced the third year of Ten Minutes in the Berkshires at Mixed Company and Barbara has performed both locally and on Broadway. In these two ladies, I could not ask for better leadership for this venture."

Submissions are now being solicited. To submit your work for consideration, please forward two copies of a bound manuscript (for plays or short stories), CD (for live music) or DVD (for film or dance) to: Made in the Berkshires, C/O Berkshire Theatre Festival; PO Box 797; Stockbridge MA 01262. Submissions are accepted from now through June 30. All submissions become the property of Berkshire Theatre Festival and will not be returned.
