Due to actor illness, TheaterWorks is canceling performances of The Little Dog Laughed through February 17. The hit comedy will resume its run on Tuesday, February 19 when Jonathan Orsini will step into the role of Alex previously performed by Jeremy Jordan, who underwent an appendectomy this week. To accommodate displaced ticket-holders, the theater is adding a full week of additional performances to the show's schedule.
The Little Dog Laughed, written by Douglas Carter Beane and directed by Rob Ruggiero, has played to capacity crowds and will now continue through March 16. TheaterWorks had already added several performances to the existing schedule, and now adds eight more. The extension-week dates and times are as follows:

A Connecticut native hailing from Cheshire, Jonathan Orsini is currently appearing to critical acclaim in the role of Alex in the SpeakEasy Stage The Little Dog Laughed, now playing at the Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts through Saturday, February 16. Nominated for an IRNE Award for his performance in the Boston production of After Ashley, Orsini will take over the role at TheaterWorks until Jeremy Jordan is fully recovered.
TheaterWorks production, which stars TV and screen actor Chad Allen, Broadway favorite Candy Buckley, and newcomers Jeremy Jordan and Amanda Perez, has received exuberant reviews from critics and audiences alike. Audiences should note that this production contains nudity and strong language.
Tickets are $37 for weeknights and matinees; $47 for Friday and Saturday evenings. Seating is general admission. Center reserved seats are $11 extra. College-age student rush tickets are $11 at show time with valid school ID (subject to availability). Special discounts are available for groups of 11 or more.
