Juventas New Music Ensemble announces the premiere of HackPolitik: a unique contemporary ballet that combines new music, dance and video projection technology to examine the internet's effect on 21st century discourse. The ballet's world premiere performances will take place November 15 and 16 at the Boston University Dance Theater.
HackPolitik is choreographed by Kate Ladenheim, Artistic Director of the NY-based contemporary Dance Company People Movers. Music is composed by popular Boston-based composer Peter Van Zandt Lane, and the production is conducted by Juventas Artistic Director Lidiya Yankovskaya. HackPolitik takes as its starting point the December 2010 internet attack on global financial institutions by the "hacktivist" group known as Anonymous, exploring how technology has revolutionized political dissidence. Composer Peter Van Zandt Lane and Choreographer Kate Ladenheim skillfully set the real-life politics and drama of cyberspace to the stage, using characters known to be associated with the group Anonymous. The ballet is an exploration, through music and dance, of how the lines between activism and anarchy have become blurred in the 21st century.Videos
