Jue & Ma Star as 'Boys from Siam' in Yale Rep Reading 10/1

Yale Repertory Theatre will present a staged reading of John Austin Connolly's The Boys from Siam, directed by Liz Diamond, on Monday, October 1 at 7:30 PM.  The reading will take place in the New Theater, located at 1156 Chapel Street in New Haven. Admission is free.

The Boys from Siam is inspired by the true story of conjoined twins Chang and Eng Bunker (1811-1874).  Francis Jue (Thoroughly Modern Millie, M. Butterfly, Pacific Overtures) and Jason Ma (Miss Siagon, NAATCO's Falsettoland) co-star as Siamese Twins Pigg and Pegg, respectively. The cast also includes Christine Toy Johnson (Falsettoland), Ron Nakahara (TV's "Hawaii Five-O"), and Sam Tsoutsouvas (By Jeeves, Our God's Country). Additional cast to be announced.

John Austin Connolly is the first winner of The Yale Drama Series, an annual playwriting competition co-sponsored by Yale University Press and Yale Repertory Theatre to support emerging playwrights. Connolly, an Irish citizen living and writing in Dublin, is a retired clinical psychologist who received an MA in Script Writing from Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art Design and Technology in 2002. Connolly will attend the reading of his play by six professional actors under the direction of Liz Diamond, a resident director at Yale Repertory Theatre.  Connolly and Albee will attend the reading of the play, which is under the direction of Liz Diamond, a resident director at Yale Repertory Theatre.

The Yale Drama Series is open to playwrights from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. The winner receives the David C. Horn Prize of $10,000 and publication of his or her manuscript by Yale University Press, as well as a reading produced by Yale Repertory Theatre. The Yale Drama Series is funded by generous support from the David Charles Horn Foundation.
