Jasmine Guy is set to perform at the Huntington's 2010 Spotlight Spectacular! Gala benefit event, which will honor director Kenny Leon. Huntington Trustee Carol G. Deane and Overseer Bryan Rafanelli (President of Rafanelli Events) will serve as this year's Event Chairs.
At this year's event, The Wimberly Award, the Huntington's highest honor, will be presented to Kenny Leon, an artist and a funder who have made significant contributions to the organization. Leon is an award-winning Broadway and film director who most recently completed his sixth production for the Huntington this fall with August Wilson's Fences, and will be returning to direct Lydia R. Diamond's Stick Fly in February. Our funder honoree will be Bank of America, the Huntington's Education and Access Partner, which has been a dedicated, long-time supporter of the Huntington and has recently deepened their commitment to our Education and Access programs.
Once again the Huntington will offer some fantastic auction items for online bidding at our online auction site. The online auction will open in April 2010, and will include many unique items for online bidding, plus previews of items available exclusively at the event. Exciting items from last year's online auction included VIP tickets to the Berklee BeanTown Jazz Festival Opening Night concert, Bruce Springsteen tickets, and several pairs of Red Sox/Yankees tickets. To bid on any of these items, click here.
The proceeds from this annual benefit help to support the programs of the Huntington, including its award-winning Youth, Education, and Community initiatives. These dynamic programs help the Huntington engage the next generation of theatre artists and audience members.
