French soprano Natalie Dessay is one of the biggest stars of today's operatic world, thrilling audiences as both a singer and an actress in her dramatic portrayal of some of the most well-known heroines in the genre. In her Boston recital debut, she focuses on the rich German romanticism of Clara Schumann, Brahms, and Richard Strauss, as well as French songs by Debussy, Duparc, Poulenc, and Fauré. The creator of the public radio show, This American Life, talks about his program and how it's put together. Glass mixes stories from the show, live onstage. He recreates the sound of the show as the audience watches, playing funny and memorable moments from the show, and talking about what was behind their creation.
In the first part of this program, pianist Vijay Iyer teams up with former U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky in POEMJAZZ, a duet performance of poetry and jazz. In the second half, the jazz world's hottest trio takes the stage with its innovative interplay.

The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1936 by Bronislaw Huberman and its inaugural concert, on December 26, 1936, was conducted by Arturo Toscanini. In 1968 Maestro Zubin Mehta was appointed Music Advisor to the IPO and in 1977 he became its Music Director. Last seen in Boston in 1998, The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra will perform Anton Bruckner's Symphony No. 8 in C minor.

Now in its 94th season, the orchestra is recognized as one of the world's outstanding ensembles. Both at home and abroad, the Los Angeles Philharmonic leads the way in innovative programming and re-defining the musical experience. Program will include works by Corigliano and Tchaikovsky.
