This summer, ImprovBoston and the Museum of Science team up for three groundbreaking, innovative, completely improvised out-of-this-world comedy shows for adults in the Charles Hayden Planetarium. On the fourth Thursday of June, July, and August, New England's oldest and biggest comedy theater combines its signature off-the-cuff laughs with the expert technological wizardry of the Planetarium.
Immersive science meets immersive comedy as ImprovBoston's professional improvisers create games, scenes, and songs out of thin air using the Planetarium's state-of-the-art projections, surround sound, and 360-degree videos. The nighttime performances are geared towards adults, pioneering a blend of the Museum of Science's large-scale spectacle with ImprovBoston's intimate, in-the-moment performance style.
"We always say comedy is universal," notes ImprovBoston Artistic Director Mike Descoteaux, "and with the Museum of Science's industry-leading capabilities, we get to take that adage literally."
"We're thrilled to collaborate with ImprovBoston, bringing their genius and hilarious brand of comedy into the Museum of Science to further push the boundaries of the Planetarium as a venue and performance medium to exciting new levels," says James Wetzel, Museum of Science Adult Programs Coordinator. "Together we will spend the summer fusing together art, science, and technology, creating incredible, immersive comedy experiences for Boston audiences, proving sometimes science is best served with a laugh."
All Summer Thursdays programs are intended for audiences 18+ and start at 7:30pm.
