Former ImprovBoston Mainstage Performer Mike Morrell creates a Powerpoint presentation with off-the-wall images for his friends to deliver. The catch? His friends have never seen the slides before. Luckily, they're all veteran Boston improvisers. Audiences will find the comedy in most non-performers' worst nightmare: being totally and hilariously unprepared for the big presentation. The Improvised Powerpoint Mysteries: Mike and His Friends Save the World turns the stage into a boardroom on April 7th at ImprovBoston - for one night only.
In this show that's toured as far from home as Dublin and Alaska, Boston-based Comic Morrell asks audience members for a pet peeve. Two of his friends chosen by an audience member attempt to overcome the pet peeve through the entirely pre-selected Powerpoint. "It's a great cast of all former or current ImprovBoston Mainstage members. I like challenging them because I know they can justify anything. So the Powerpoints get more and more obscure and difficult, while their justifications get better and better. I love seeing the ways they make it work," explains Morrell. "And then we create scenes from there."
"My favorite part is making the absurd Powerpoint," says Morrell. "Past slides have included the world's strongest dog and cartoon vampires fighting. Finding unique pictures that make me laugh and make my friends work for the laugh is what it's all about. The improv it inspires is fast, ridiculous, and funny."
