ImprovBoston Presents Gorefest Macabr­et & Movie the Musical

ImprovBoston has been the heart and soul of Boston comedy for over 30 years. With over 20 shows each week and a variety of community outreach programs, ImprovBoston is an ever­evolving laugh factory representing New England's greatest comedy talent.

Gorefest: Macabr­et

The legendary blood and guts spectacular returns in all its gore for one performance only on Halloween night. Gorefest Macabr­et culls the funniest, dirtiest, most twisted original songs from the past 10 years of Gorefest, the annual ImprovBoston Halloween scripted musical notorious for lathering the stage with fake blood and plastic organs.

Many of the featured Gorefest songs have been performed regularly in other themed shows including Image Theater's annual Naughty Readings. Don Schuerman, a renowned comic lyricist and ImprovBoston veteran, created the long­running Gorefest splatter institution and has crafted a wide variety of songs that will make this showcase as diverse as it is entertaining.

Stephen Gilbane, composer for 9 of the 10 past productions says, "Compiling this show has been a real trip down memory lane, from the first slapdash, Comedia D'Ell Arte­ style "Lunch At Your Desk" to last year's "28 Days Latte", a tight, scripted show that was blessed to have some this town's best singers and improvisers - it really has come a long way."

Movie! The Musical

The renown Boston musical improv troupe, Hidden Falls, returns with their newest installment of jam­packed fun, Movie! the Musical, where classic movies evolve into spectacular musicals on the spot. Hidden Falls is
a group of seasoned musical improvisers who create and perform cutting edge, spontaneous Broadway­style formats. The pitch­perfect synthesis of improv know­how and showtune mastery, Movie! the Musical pushes the boundaries of comedy and music theater with this jam­packed, high­intensity recreation of favorite cinematic pastimes. Whether it's Gone With the Wind or Dumb and Dumber, these pros will bring any audience­suggested movie to impressively irreverent musical life.
