Huntington's 'Spotlight Spectacular' to Fete Carol G. Deane and A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC Cast

Huntington Theatre Company Board Chair Carol G. Deane will be honored with the Wimberly Award and the cast of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC will be celebrated at the 2016 Spotlight Spectacular "Illuminate" on Monday, April 25, 2016.

"Carol Deane has been an indispensable part of the Huntington's success over the past six years," says Managing Director Michael Maso. "As our Board Chair, Carol has consistently upheld the Huntington's mission, inspiring her fellow board members in support of our services to audiences, artists, young people, and the Greater Boston theatre community. As a donor she has led her peers with enormous generosity, and she has always been there to support and advise Peter DuBois and me with her wise counsel and warm friendship. The entire Huntington family has benefited tremendously from her leadership, and it is an honor to recognize Carol's contributions with this year's Wimberly Award."

The all-star cast from the Huntington's hit production of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC will reunite to bring Sondheim's most romantic musical to life once again. Guests will be treated to thrilling entertainment by A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC cast members Haydn Gwynne (Billy Elliot on Broadway), Stephen Bogardus (God of Carnage), Lauren Molina (Candide), Mike McGowan (The Producers on Broadway), and Bobbie Steinbach (Dead End).

The Huntington's festive annual event raises money to support the Huntington's programs, including its award-winning youth, education, and community initiatives that reach more than 30,000 annually. Co-chaired by Jill Roberts, Neal Balkowitsch, and Donald Nelson, and designed by Rafanelli Events, the lights come up at 6pm at the Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts and will feature a cocktail reception, live auction offering one-of-a-kind items, seated dinner provided by MAX Ultimate Food, presentation of the Wimberly Award, and entertainment. The Gerard & Sherryl Cohen Award for Excellence, given to two Huntington staff members who consistently go above and beyond in their contribution to the company, will be presented to Costume Design Assistant Mary Lauve and Calderwood Pavilion Rentals Coordinator Katie Most. Guests will also have the opportunity to "Sponsor a Class" in support of the Huntington's Student Matinee program and other education initiatives. Additional funds to support the Huntington will be raised through an online auction that will run through April 29.

The 2015 Spotlight Spectacular honored Mitch and Jill Roberts and celebrated the artistic legacy of former Artistic Director Nicholas Martin. The event raised a record-breaking $1,270,000 and was attended by more than 400.

Carol G. Deane has been the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Huntington Theatre Company since September 2009. Under her leadership the Huntington has seen a period of artistic and organizational growth, celebrating its 30th anniversary with a special fundraising campaign led by her Chairman's Challenge, marking the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA, and winning the 2013 Regional Theatre Tony Award. During this period the Huntington has expanded its commitment to both musicals and new plays, while posting six consecutive balanced budgets and more than doubling its endowment. The Carol G. Deane Rehearsal Hall at the Calderwood Pavilion is named in her honor. Carol is Principal of the Deane Group, a real estate management firm based in New York, and President of Starrett City Associates. A resident of Beacon Hill, New York City, East Hampton, NY, and Paris, France, she serves on several nonprofit boards, including serving as chairman of the Duke Medicine Board of Visitors. Carol is a member of the Garden Club of East Hampton, the Beacon Hill Circle for Charity, and is a member of the board of the Spring Creek Recreational Fund. She has two children: Anne, who graduated from Duke University, and Carl, who is a senior at Princeton.
