Local history and stirring drama collide as the Hub Theatre Company of Boston, Inc., continues its debut season with Goodly Creatures by Tony award-winning playwright and screenwriter William Gibson.

Set in 1630's Boston, this two-act drama tells the story of Puritan dissident Anne Hutchinson. Her charisma, skill with medicine and her religious fervor make the newly arrived Anne a beloved and influential figure in the new colony. But when her followers grow to rival the religious and political establishment, Governor Winthrop takes increasingly drastic steps to preserve his utopic vision of a "City On A Hill."

The Hub's co-founder and Artistic Director, IRNE award winning Boston-based actor John Geoffrion, will direct a cast of 12 of Boston's finest actors.

Goodly Creatures runs September 20 through October 6, 2013 at The First Church of Boston located at 66 Marlborough Street, Boston, MA 02116. Fittingly enough, the First Church was founded in 1630 and listed Winthrop, Hutchinson and several other of the play's characters among its members.

William Gibson has penned such plays as The Miracle Worker (Tony Award, Best Play; Oscar nomination, Best Adapted Screenplay), Golda's Balcony, Two for the Seesaw (Tony nominee, Best Play), Dinny and the Witches, A Cry of Players and the book for the musical adaptation of Odets' Golden Boy (Tony nominee, Best Musical). He is the former president of the Berkshire Theatre Festival. William Gibson died in 2008 in Stockbridge MA.

The Hub Theatre Company of Boston, Inc., is a non-profit organization committed to entertaining and emotionally engaging theatre in intimate settings. In order to cultivate a diverse audience spanning all ages and backgrounds, all tickets are Pay-What-You-Can.
