The Harbor Stage Company continues its 5th season with the World Premiere of an original comedy by Harbor co-founder Brenda Withers. Set in an imagined province of 19th century Russia, The Kritik tells the story of a small-town writer struggling to turn in his first honest review. Originally commissioned by the Professional Actors Training Program at UNC Chapel Hill, the faux-period piece offers a spirited look at candor, corruption, and community.

The Kritik will feature a cast of ten- the largest ensemble the company has ever attempted to host on their intimate stage- including Harbor co-founders Jonathan Fielding, Stacy Fischer, and Robert Kropf. Returning to the company are frequent Harbor collaborators Robin Bloodworth (A Doll's House, Artist Descending a Staircase), Amie Lytle (Uncle Vanya, CHURCH), and Alex Pollock (Northside Hollow, The Seagull, Sticks & Bones). Rounding out the cast are visiting artists and local favorites Andy Dolan, Molly Kimmerling, David Nelson, and Holly Erin McCarthy. Stage manager Katie Graves, lighting designer John Malinowski, set designer Sara C. Walsh, and technical director Evan Farley complete the resident creative team. Performances begin Thursday July 14th at the Harbor's iconic seaside theater and will play through Saturday August 6th.

In keeping with the company's mission to produce great plays at fair prices for the right reason, and thanks to the support of The Kritik sponsor Winslow's Tavern and 2016 season sponsor WOMR, single tickets to Harbor performances are set at $23 and are available at www.harborstage.org. The Kritik's First Fridays Pay-What-You- Can performance on Friday, July 15th will help raise funds for Outer Cape Health, an essential local organization that provides capable, compassionate healthcare for Cape residents and visitors, regardless of their ability to pay; half of the proceeds from the by-donation performance of The Kritik will go towards supporting OCH's important work.
