"I was at the Huntington in 2007 when this play was first produced. Nearly ten years later, this story of an immigrant calling a place his home is just as topical, for both Boston and the country...and I love how funny this play is, too."
Marks continued, "I am thrilled to work on Brendan again, and with HMT again (this is my third show with them) - and I also get to collaborate with Victor [Shopov], who has been a long-time friend and colleague, on this project. It's been a blast."
Mikey DiLoreto, co-founder of HMT, adds, "Happy Medium also wants to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Bob Jolly Charitable Trust for their extraordinarily generous contribution to this production."
Brendan, by Ronan Noone, tells the compelling story of recent Irish immigrant, Brendan, and how his new life in America is suddenly turned upside-down when the ghost of his mother starts following him around. Of course, she has plenty to say about his friends, his shameful lifestyle and how worried she is about him learning to drive on the other side of the road. This is a funny, evocative and wonderfully touching play about love, loss and coming to terms with leaving the past behind you.
The show will feature nine lauded fringe actors: Avery Nelson Bargar (The Draft, Hibernian Hall/Diego Arciniegas); Mike Budwey (Hard and Fast: a love story, Boston Public Works); IRNE Award winner Mikey DiLoreto (The Normal Heart, Zeitgeist Stage); Melody Martin (The Clytemnestriad, Fresh Ink Theatre); Elliot Norton Award nominated Lesley Anne Moreau (Language of Angels, Happy Medium Theatre); Elliot Norton Award winning Kiki Samko (Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead, Happy Medium Theatre); Jay Street (The Finest Hours, The Walt Disney Company); Audrey Lynn Sylvia (Lebensraum, Happy Medium Theatre); and IRNE Award nominated Michael Underhill (Dying City, Happy Medium Theatre).
