New York and Boston theatre scenes mash up this New Year to bring the best of both worlds to the Boston stage. Boston's Happy Medium Theatre (HMT) and New York theatre veterans, Jared Culverhouse and Darcie Champagne, are offering a one-day audition workshop, "Booking the Gig," which will allow actors to explore and improve technique within a variety of audition situations. The workshop will take place in Boston on January 15th from 12p.m. - 4p.m. The cost to attend is $100 per actor.
Culverhouse and Champagne are founders and artistic council members of Working Man's Clothes Productions, a New York based Production Company dedicated to developing and producing authentic and original theater by supporting new works and new talent.
The collaboration is a kick-off to Happy Medium Theater's production of Sophie Klein's original script, The Spitting Image, which will be directed by Culverhouse and performed at Boston's Factory Theatre (March 23 - April 2).
Auditions for The Spitting Image will closely follow the workshop. Culverhouse and Happy Medium are hoping the workshop will serve as a springboard to introduce new actors to the company, attract a broad range of audition attendees and build excitement around the show.

His most recent directorial endeavor won the 2010 GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding New York Theatre. He has coached and taught award winning actors in theatre, film and television. He helps to cast all plays he directs, and because of that has formatted an audition workshop to help the talented actor prepare, execute, get called back and book the gig. A strong believer in theatre that impacts a community, Darcie was the Company Manager for the 77th Season of the esteemed Peterborough Players in New Hampshire, where she was also a member of their Acting Company. Darcie specializes in voice and speech for the actor, as well as Lee Strasberg's The Method, and has coached and taught various classes and workshops in New York.
The Spitting Image is a modern story of metamorphosis, inspired by the myths of "Pygmalion & Galatea" and "Orpheus & Eurydice." A painter and his model use one another to access the dark secrets hidden in her portrait. It's a journey of self-discovery through the reflection of art.
