Greater Boston Stage Company announces Producing Artistic Director Weylin Symes' adaptation of one of the most iconic films ever made, It's A Wonderful Life. When misfortune befalls George Bailey on Christmas Eve, guardian angel Clarence swoops in to remind him of all the good he has done in the lives of those who love him most. A holiday tradition alive onstage, It's A Wonderful Life brings us the timeless message that faith, hope, and family make life truly wonderful. Co-directed by Tonasia Jones and Artistic Associate and Young Company Alum Tyler Rosati, performances run November 29 - December 23, 2018. The Press Opening is Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 3:00pm.
"The audience can look forward to a fast-paced, story book, heart-felt play that examines what it means to live a fulfilled life," says Co-Director Tonasia Jones. "They can expect to feel like they are opening an old story book by the fire at Christmas time, with all your loved ones close." Continues Jones, "I really wanted to work on this piece to help modernize this story. It has been a fun ride thinking about how we include different races, ethnicities, and genders."
The It's A Wonderful Life cast features Margaret Ann Brady, Laura Chowenhill, Marge Dunn, William Gardiner, Jackson Hughes-Page, David Jiles Jr., Jeff Marcus, Elainy Mata, Young Company Alum Bryan Miner, Bob Mussett, Francis Norton, Jenna Lee Scott, and Stewart Evan Smith. Young Company Members Cate Galante, Linus Latta Giuliana, Melydia McCall, and Fiona Simeqi round out the Ensemble.
Shares Tyler Rosati, "Co-directing a project is always such a wonderful experience because there is true strength that comes in knowing you are fully supported in any moment. By supporting what ideas are working and challenging what ideas may not, we can both grow as artists and help build a more dynamic, engaging piece. Tonasia and I are able to take our diverse life experiences and find the similarities and differences and apply those to the community feel of It's A Wonderful Life to strengthen what is already in the incredible story."
The design team is comprised of Scenic Designer Sarah Rozene, Lighting Designer Kayleigha Zawacki, Costume Designer Chelsea Kerl, and Props Master Tori Oaks.
