GhostLit Repertory Theatre Company, under the leadership of Artistic Directors Caitlin Teeley and Harrison Lang, is thrilled to present the regional premiere of the Broadway hit-musical, Fun Home.
A Pulitzer Prize finalist and winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Fun Home is a musical told from the perspective of a 43 year old Alison Bechdel as she dives deep into her past to tell the story of her father, Bruce Bechdel, a volatile yet brilliant man whose temperament and hidden desires defined her family and her life. Audiences will follow Alison at three different stages of her life as she relives her unique childhood at the family's Funeral Home, her growing understanding of her own sexuality, and the unanswerable questions about her father's secrets.
The 90-minute musical first premiered Off-Broadway at The Public Theater in 2013 and in 2015, transferred to Broadway's Circle in the Square Theater. Fun Home boasts a score with music by Jeanine Tesori, a book by Lisa Kron, and a story based on Alison Bechdel's best-selling graphic novel of the same name. GhostLit Rep's Fun Home marks the second time a fully produced musical will hit the stage at The Egremont Barn.
