How does an Elvis impersonator become a winning drag queen in the Florida Panhandle? Join us to find out in this heartfelt, raucous comedy filled with music, laughter, and lots of sequins. Directed and choreographed by Russell Garrett, performances run May 3 - 20, 2018. The Press Opening is Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 3:00pm.
"After first reading the script of Georgia McBride, I was all in about working on this show," shares director/choreographer Russell Garrett. "I think it has a wonderful blend of uproarious humor and also heart, which is a terrific combination for a play. This play ultimately is about finding your own voice and doing what brings you joy, even when that seems at odds with the way you have believed your life should be lived. We all experience those moments in our lives when what our hearts want doesn't always mesh with 'the plan' we've set for ourselves."
The cast features Boston favorites Jade Guerra, Rick Park, Ed Peed, Alex Pollock, and Jared Reinfeldt.
The design team is comprised of Co-Scenic Designers Cristina Todesco and Jeff Adelberg, Lighting Designer Jeff Adelberg, Costume Designer Gail Astrid Buckley, Sound Designer Monica Giordano, and Props Master Sarah Elizabeth Bedard.
On Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 1pm, drag expert, Rich Vaden, will give an Introduction to Drag in the Griffin Gallery right next door to the theater. And on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 8pm, put on your blue suede shoes and join us for Elvis Night. Whether you're a hound dog or a teddy bear, dress in your favorite Elvis garb and you may find yourself taking home the prize for Best Young Elvis, Best Old Elvis, Best Female Elvis, or simply be crowned The King.
