The Friends of Saint Anne's Hospital are bringing one of Broadway's most beloved musicals to Fall River when they present "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor® Dreamcoat," from September 16-19 at the Margaret L. Jackson Arts Center at Bristol Community College, 777 Elsbree Street, Fall River.

"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor® Dreamcoat" musically tells the Biblical story of Joseph, one of 12 brothers and a handsome young man who is his father Jacob's favorite child. This, combined with his ability to interpret dreams and his ownership of an amazing coat, causes his 11 brothers to become jealous and resentful. They sell Joseph into slavery and he is sent to jail, where he becomes popular due to his ability to interpret dreams. His gifts catch the eye of the Pharaoh, who appoints him to one of the most powerful positions in Egypt. Years later, Joseph's now-starving brothers arrive in Egypt, and, after a series of events, he grants them all they need, reveals his identity, and reunites the family.

This is the seventh production staged by the Friends, with past highly successful presentations including "Fiddler on the Roof," "Oklahoma!", "Annie," "The Sound of Music," "Godspell," and "Arts For a Cure." It is co-directed by Jeff Belanger and Paula Arruda, and production coordination by Marge Dubé.

The cast of more than 60 includes talent from Fall River and many other communities in southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Major roles will be played by Alex Leite, of Somerset (Joseph), and Jessalyn Sadler-Correa of Rehoboth/Providence (the Narrator).

Significant supporting roles will be played by David Melanson, of Berkley; Greg Silver, of Fairhaven; Cory Santos, Justin Augusto, Gary DeMedeiros, and William Medeiros, of Fall River; Dan Rezendes, Freetown; Frank Noble and Joshua Furtado, of Somerset; Tricia Whalen, of Swansea; Collin Boggs, of Riverside, RI; and John Panchley and Roger S. Belanger, of Tiverton, RI.

The Friends' production also offers a raffle to win a special Boston Red Sox package that includes two tickets to the team's game on October 1 against the New York Yankees, round-trip limousine service, courtesy of Princess Limousine, and $200 spending money. Raffle tickets are $5 each, three for $10, or nine for $20. Raffle tickets will be available at the theatre on the days of performance, or in advance at the Saint Anne's Hospital Gift Shop. The winning ticket will be drawn on September 19 (winner need not be present to win).

Proceeds from the production and raffle will benefit Saint Anne's Hospital Regional Cancer Care. The Friends' previous theatrical productions have earned more than $68,000 in support of the cancer care program. For more than three decades, Saint Anne's Hospital has been the area's leading provider of comprehensive cancer care, including advanced radiation therapy, hematology/oncology care, access to dozens of national clinical trials, and a spectrum of patient and family programs and services.
