Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA) presents its annual Spring Concert today, May 18 at 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. and on Sunday, May 19 at 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. at Franklin's Thomas D. Mercer Auditorium, 224 Oak Street.
The four Spring Concert performances feature FSPA students in all levels and disciplines of dance and musical theater, as well as the FSPA Youth Choir, performing troupes, dance companies and the international touring ensemble Electric Youth. This year, complimentary tickets will be available for prospective students and families to experience firsthand FSPA's performance training and curriculum. The four Spring Concert dates bring FSPA's course catalog to life and provide a dynamic way to learn about class offerings across many dance disciplines, music and musical theater programming.FSPA's Spring Concert is presented in an audience-friendly, 90-minute format. Weekend performances feature the Spring Concert debut of several dance disciplines that are new to the FSPA curriculum, including Character Dance, Horton Technique and Dance for Musical Theater. Additionally, Spring Concert features a performance by the School's Friend in Me Theater Company, a distinct program that pairs FSPA teens with students with special needs to provide weekly musical theater experiences.
Tickets to each Spring Concert performance are $18 or $20. Prospective students and families should call FSPA to reserve their complimentary tickets and schedule a trial class or tour of the facilities. Classes continue at FSPA through June 24 and registration for summer and fall sessions is ongoing.
