The Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA) will hold an Open House on Wednesday, August 17th from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 38 Main Street, Franklin. The community is invited to come meet the faculty, tour the facility and learn about FSPA's programs in Music, Dance and Drama. FSPA's classes are designed for all ages and levels of ability. Beginners are welcome!
FSPA offers a complete curriculum in Music, Dance and Drama. The Music Department offers instrumental music lessons, private voice lessons, group voice lessons, and classes for young children. FSPA's Little Music School is an innovative music program that teaches children as young as 18 months to play the piano and explore the musical world around them.
FSPA's Little Music School will also offer an Open House that morning during the following time slots: 18-24-month-olds: 9:30-10 a.m.; 2 and 3-year-olds: 10-10:30; and 4 and 5-year-olds: 10:30-11 a.m. Parents and children are invited to come and participate in singing, creative movement, and storytelling. Kim Rezendes, the Director of the Little Music School, will provide an overview of the program.
The comprehensive dance program at FSPA includes instruction in ballet, featuring both pointe and demi-pointe tracks, tap, jazz, modern and hip hop; Boys' Dance; and adult dance. The School's Drama Department offers curriculum in acting and musical theater. Students have the opportunity to audition for performing troupes and dance companies that perform in the community, visit Walt Disney World and tour internationally. Along with members of the community, FSPA students may also audition for shows with the Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC), which presents several shows annually, including the holiday classic The Nutcracker.
