The Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) has announced its 2009-2010 season of productions and events. The main stage shows for the upcoming season begins with the musical Cabaret to be presented for two dinner theater shows on October 16 and 17, 2009 at the Franklin Country Club. FPAC's popular annual production of Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker and the company's new holiday hit Humbug! will be staged on December 12 and 13 and December 19 and 20 at the Thomas D. Mercer Auditorium. The haunting musical The Secret Garden based on the popular children's book by Frances Hodgson Burnett will be presented on March 20 and 21, 2010.
The FPAC Family Concert Series will feature free family-friendly concerts open to the public in February, March and April at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts Recit
Al Hall at 38 Main Street. The Company's 3rd annual Whatever Theater Festival is planned for Summer, 2010 and will once again feature Shakespeare on
The Common, one act plays, and special musical performances.
The Franklin Performing Arts Company was founded in 1991, and is dedicated to the promotion and encouragement of the performing arts, with a focus on and commitment to youth development. A distinctive suburban non-profit arts organization, FPAC presents quality performances while offering opportunities for professional artists, amateurs, families and students of the arts to work together in a cooperative and creative environment. FPAC has staged many successful concerts, ballets, musicals, comedies and dramas including The Nutcracker, The King and I, The Wizard of OZ, The Music of Gershwin and Porter, The Sound of Music, Moon Over Buffalo, Little Shop of Horrors, West Side Story, Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Macbeth, Suessical the Musical, Cinderella, The Sacred Music of
Duke Ellington, Tis the Season!, Into the Woods, Footloose, Anything Goes and many more. Auditions for FPAC productions are open to all and family participation is encouraged. All performances feature a collaboration of professional artists, community performers and students of the arts.
FPAC programming is supported by corporate sponsors, individual friends and benefactors, playbill advertisers and by the FPAC Golden Circle of patrons. A season kickoff celebration and reception for Golden Circle members will be held in September and a membership meeting for all cast members, friends of FPAC and prospective participants is slated in October.
