Meg Fofonoff and Stacey Stephens, Producing Artistic Directors of Fiddlehead Theatre Company, announced today that the Boston-based professional theater company will stage two full-scale musical productions at the Citi Performing Arts Center Shubert Theatre for their 23rd Anniversary season, in partnership with the Citi Performing Arts Center and Josiah A. Spaulding, Jr., President and CEO.

Following Fiddlehead's production of Show Boat (June 22-July 3, 2016), the company will launch its first full season at the Shubert Theatre with PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT The Musical (A Boston Premiere!) from September 30- October 9, 2016. Based on the 1994 hit film, PRISCILLA is the uproarious and fashionable tale of drag performers spreading glamour across the Australian outback on a fabulous journey of discovery. The season will bookend with CARNIVAL from May 5-14, 2017, the touching story of a young girl who enters the world of a threadbare carnival and works a little bit of magic on the puppeteers, magicians and performers who inhabit the big top.

Tickets for Fiddlehead's 2016-2017 season at the Shubert Theatre will go on sale as of Wednesday, May 11 at 10:00 am. Tickets can be purchased at citicenter.org, by calling (866) 348-9738, or by visiting the Citi Center Box Office, open Tuesday through Saturday from 12 - 6 pm.

"We are thrilled that our first full season at the Shubert Theatre is already in the planning stages for this fall," said Meg Fofonoff, Founding Producing Artistic Director. "Fiddlehead has been producing Broadway-quality theater for over two decades in the Boston area and we look forward to bringing the audience along with us on this exciting new journey at the Shubert. We are grateful to Joe Spaulding and the Citi Performing Arts Center Shubert Theatre for opening their doors to us in the heart of Boston's theater district and for sharing in our vision to produce exceptional theater that uplifts while engaging audiences in important cultural issues."

"Following Show Boat this June, we look forward to welcoming Fiddlehead Theatre Company back to the Shubert Theatre for their exciting 2016-17 season," said Josiah A. Spaulding, Jr., President & CEO of Citi Performing Arts Center. "We pride ourselves on supporting the region's nonprofit arts community and very much look forward to this new partnership with Meg, Stacey, and the entire Fiddlehead team."
