Claire lives a quiet, suburban life with her husband, Richard, and teen-aged son, Kenny. But Claire has a secret, mysterious past... a past which remains a secret even to herself, because Claire has a rare form of psychogenic amnesia, which erases her memory every time she goes to sleep. One morning, a limping, lisping, half-blind, half-deaf man claiming to be Claire's brother arrives to "save her" from Richard. The limping man brings Claire to the home of her mother, Gertie, a recent stroke victim whose speech has been reduced to near gibberish. While Gertie struggles to reveal the truth of Claire's past, things get further complicated with the appearance of Millet, a dimwitted man with a foul-mouthed hand puppet, as well as the arrival of Richard, Kenny, and an inept lady-cop named Heidi. Each bizarre character adds a new twist to the funhouse plot, and brings Claire — and the audience — one puzzle piece closer to revealing the full picture of Claire's past.
