The F.U.D.G.E. (FRIENDS UNITED DEVELOPING GENUINE ENTERTAINMENT) Theatre Company will present their 12th Anniversary Season's production of Stephen Sondheim (Music & Lyrics) and John Weidman's (Book) award-drenched, internationally acclaimed musical, "ASSASSINS," "which will open tonight, July 12 at The Arsenal Center for the Arts Black Box Theatre (321 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA) where it will play through Saturday, July 20.

Nominated for and awarded with every possible theatrical award both here and in Europe, the musical gathers together and examines the motivations of the men and women who assassinated or attempted to assassinate eight Presidents of the United States of America.

They are a demented group of murderous misfits, torn in misery between their motives, their crimes and their world-wide bloodthirsty profiles. Fame has escaped them while history has imprisoned them in infamous frustration. They are obsessed, driven, mentally unbalanced and plagued with torment. The musical is a comedy. The score borders on genius. The outcome is chilling.

"ASSASSINS" originally opened December 18, 1990 Off-Broadway at Playwrights Horizons where it was directed by Jerry Zaks. On October 29, 1992 it opened in London at the Donmar Warehouse with direction by Sam Mendes. Directed by Joe Montello, Roundabout Theatre Company's Broadway production was originally scheduled for 2001 but was postponed to April 22, 2004 because the content was deemed sensitive in light of the events of September 11, 2001.
