The Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA) is pleased to announce it is now accepting new students for private instruction in all levels of violin, woodwinds, guitar, bass, drums, pop/jazz piano and music theory.  A limited number of openings are available for voice and classical piano.  FSPA begins its 26th season on September 7, offering instruction and performing opportunities in Music, Dance and Drama for young people.

Students enrolled in lessons at FSPA may participate in Music Department student recitals throughout the year. Students may also join Saturday Sessions, an ensemble that meets weekly and explores all genres of music. Private instrumental lessons are an important way to supplement instrumental instruction begun in the public schools, and are offered in both half-hour and hour intervals at FSPA.

Irina Fainkichen, Instructor of Strings at FSPA, joined the faculty in 2009. She has taught violin for years, both in the United States and abroad. Fainckichen studied at the Rachmaninoff Music College (Novgorod, Russia), Leningrad State Conservatory (Leningrad, Russia) and Rubin Academy of Music and Dance (Jerusalem, Israel).

Arnie Krakowsky began teaching woodwinds at FSPA in 2007.  He also directs the Saturday Sessions ensemble group. Krakowsky has over twenty years of teaching experience. He attended Berklee College of Music and studied saxophone with Joe Viola, Eddie Daniels and Jerry Bergonzi.

Drum Instructor Kenny Hadley joined the FSPA Music Faculty in 1998 and has extensive teaching experience, including master classes and teaching clinics throughout New England. He has played throughout the United States, Europe and South America and has worked with many well-known musicians including Van Morrison, Dizzy Gillespie, The Count Basie Orchestra, the North Shore Music Theater and FSPA's Youth Choir and Electric Youth.  In addition to directing Saturday Sessions with Krakowski, Hadley also directs FSPA's percussion ensemble, the FSPA Groovemasters.

Bill Miele joined the FSPA Music Faculty in 2006. Miele is also on the faculty at The Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School and Providence College. He performs and records with many artists in the New England area, including The John Almark Jazz Orchestra and The East Side Horns.

Bryan Eyberg instructs students in piano at FSPA. He has served on the FSPA Music Faculty since 2004.  In addition to teaching classical piano, he is pleased to offer pop/jazz piano, where students are introduced to popular, ragtime, blues, jazz, funk and soul music.  He also instructs his students in how to read a lead sheet, chord symbols and music theory associated with these types of music.

Additional music faculty includes Instructors of Voice, Angelina Calderón, Leah Hungerford, Shauna Martin, Mariko Matsuura and Ed Milham; Instructors of Piano, Kitty Cheung-Evans, Priscilla Noyes-Kjorlaug and Ida Zelman; Katerina Dejkoska, Little Music School Advisor; Tracy Lane, Children's Music Instructor; Kim Rezendes, Director of Little Music School and Children's Music; and Hallie Wetzell, Instructor of Voice and FSPA Vocal Director.

Registration is ongoing for fall classes at FSPA and can be done in person at the School, 38 Main Street, Franklin, or over the phone. For more information or to request a course catalogue, call (508) 528-8668 or visit www.fspaonline.
