Spotlighting several talented residents from local communities, The Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC)'s upcoming production of The Wedding Singer will be staged October 22 and 23 at 8 p.m. at the Franklin Country Club, 672 East Central Street in Franklin.

Based on the 1998 film of the same name, The Wedding Singer is a rollicking tribute to the '80s, with music by Matthew Sklar and lyrics by Chad Beguelin. The Tony-nominated musical takes place in New Jersey in 1985 and features the character of Robbie, a lead singer for a wedding band who is rejected by his girlfriend at the altar.

The role of Robbie Hart (Adam Sandler in the movie version) will be played by Nick Paone of Franklin, and the part of Julia Sullivan (portrayed by Drew Barrymore in the film) will be played by Avery McStay, also of Franklin. Other local residents in lead roles include Guy Rezendes of Franklin as Sammy, Michael Egan of Hopkinton as George, Kellie Stamp of Franklin as Holly, Pat Dutton of Franklin as Glen Guglia, Erin Lopez of Franklin as Rosie and Lindsey White of Franklin as Linda.

Members of the Ensemble include Jessica Chabot of Taunton; Greg Dutton, Ali Funkhouser, Brandon Hancock, Tori Haynes, Ed Jones and Wendy Jones of Franklin; Emily Peduto and Julie Wiles of Medway; and Lindsay Thomas of Wrentham.

With songs such as "It's Your Wedding Day," "Someday" and "Saturday Night in the City," the musical engages the audience in a trip down memory lane. The production will be directed by Nick Paone with musical direction by Hallie Wetzell and choreography by Kellie Stamp.

The Franklin Performing Arts Company was founded in 1991 and is dedicated to the promotion of the performing arts, with a focus on and commitment to youth development. A distinctive suburban non-profit arts organization, FPAC presents quality performances while offering opportunities for professional artists, amateurs, families and students of the arts to work together in a collaborative and creative environment.

The box office to the The Wedding Singer is now open. Tickets for the show, which include a dessert buffet at intermission, are $35 for adults and $25 for students/seniors. Tickets are available by contacting the FPAC box office at 508-528-2887.  Reservations for dinner prior to the performances are available by contacting the Franklin Country Club at 508-528-6110.
