The Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) will present Annie on Saturday, March 3, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 4, at 2:00 p.m., at the Thomas D. Mercer Auditorium, 224 Oak Street, in Franklin.

Annie follows the adventures of the street-smart, spunky title character, from a dingy New York City orphanage to the opulent home of billionaire Oliver Warbucks. The Tony award-winning musical was originally performed on Broadway in 1977, with book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin. The musical was inspired by characters from the popular comic strip Little Orphan Annie, conceived in 1924 by Harold Gray.

FPAC’s production of Annie features professional artists sharing the stage with talented amateur and student performers from the MetroWest area. Accompaniment for the musical features a professional ensemble of Boston-area musicians conducted by Hallie Wetzell.

The show features Jenna McDermott of Wrentham in the title role of Anne, Franklin’s Nick Paone creatively cast in the role of Miss Hannigan, Bob Matson of Franklin as Daddy Warbucks, Amanda Flynn of Plainville as Grace Farrell, Charley Eastman of Franklin in the role of Rooster, and Kellie Stamp of Franklin as Lily. Franklin’s Mia Fleischer understudies the role of Annie.

The orphans will be portrayed by Anna Grasso of Franklin as Molly, Jocelyn Jones of Franklin as Duffy, Alexa Katsaros of Frankin as Pepper, Lauren Robinson of Franklin as Kate, Angela Salisbury of Medfield as Tessie, Emma Sbordon of Franklin as Viv, Gina Schratz of Franklin as Patsy, and Maddy Williams of Medway as July.

Annie is under the direction of Raye Lynn Mercer and Nick Paone, with musical direction by Hallie Wetzell and choreography by Kellie Stamp. Production coordinators are Raye Lynn Mercer and Tracy Lane.

Tickets for Annie are $28.00, $26.00 and $24.00. Tickets are available by contacting the FPAC box office at 508 -528-8668.
