"With so much raw young talent on the North Shore, I am so excited to re-launch the Education Program here," says Bill Hanney, NSMT owner and producer. "Lloyd Woodcock, our new Director of Education, is creating year-round programs to develop the singing, dancing and acting skills needed to be a musical theatre "triple-threat" performer."
Lloyd Woodcock, NSMT's new Director of Education, is a Theatre Educator/Arts Administrator with over 13 years of experience building theater education programming and curriculums. He holds a Bachelors in Theatre Arts and a Masters in Educational Theatre and has worked with various theaters in the Boston area, most recently as the Director of Education at Wheelock Family Theatre. Prior to relocating, Lloyd lived in NYC where he taught for various theater organizations such as TADA! Youth Theatre, Wingspan Arts, The Forum Project and the Henry Street Settlement. Lloyd also served as the Theater Coordinator for the NYC Department of Education where he managed the Shubert/MTI Broadway Junior program.
"I am beyond thrilled to be running the Education Program at NSMT", says Lloyd Woodcock, Director of Education, "Theatre Education has been my passion and I am excited that NSMT is once again providing youth an opportunity to build their skills for the stage!"
NSMT's Education Program believes that a modern day actor should have a toolbox filled with true and steadfast techniques and methods used on the stage. The conservatory style program concentrates on providing students the necessary tools to become a triple threat and well-rounded actor/actress. Students will hone their skills in acting, singing and dancing, while engaging with their peers, building on the areas critical to their development such as: critical thinking, collaboration, public speaking, time management and social development. It is also believed that theatre should be accessible to any student who chooses to participate and encourage them to begin their artistic journey, regardless of their level of experience.
