Counter Productions is thrilled to announce the first Cape production of Songs from an Unmade Bed. Performances begin July 12 at 7 p.m. and run each Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m. throughout the summer until August 17 at the new Counter Productions Studio at Whaler's Wharf, 237 Commercial Street in Provincetown, MA.
Songs from an Unmade Bed features Brian Dunham, under the direction of Susan Grilli, with musical direction by Jim Rice.
Songs is a theatrical song cycle for one performer and two musicians that explores the romantic life of a gay man living in New York. The eighteen songs feature the lyrics of one lyricist, Mark Campbell, with the music composed by some of the most exciting composers working in musical theatre and opera today: Debra Barsha, Mark Bennett, Peter Foley, Jenny Giering, Peter Golub, Jake Heggie, Stephen Hoffman, Lance Horne, Gihieh Lee, Steven Lutvak, Steve Marzullo, Brendan Milburn, Chris Miller, Greg Pliska, Duncan Sheik, Kim D. Sherman, Jeffrey Stock and Joseph Thalken.
This unique theatrical event is by turns funny, poignant, sardonic-and
ultimately hopeful about finding love in the city. Songs from an Unmade Bed, which received two Drama Desk nominations, was originally produced at New York Theatre Workshop and was performed by Michael Winther with direction by David Schweizer and music direction by Kimberly Grigsby. The original cast recording is on Ghostlight Records.
General Admission tickets are $22.00 and can be purchased at Theatermania.com or by calling Counter Productions at (508) 431-1000.
