Magyar & Dave Campbell
A unique exhibition of 2 Artists working together for 12 months to create a Fusion of work.

Stone carver Dave Campbell and glass artist Michael Magyar, both from Sandwich, came together every week for 1 year to create 12 sculptures. It all started out as an idea to create a series of pieces using each other's ideas and materials. They had worked together on some smaller projects over a period of 4 or so years, when they decided to focus on a series of work designed by both artists.

Working together in each other's studio opened many ideas and gave each artist a renewed appreciation for the other's material. They found it much more challenging than just making one's own piece. Each artist had to keep an open mind and remain flexible to the other's thoughts and ideas. What came out of this is an outstanding body of work, something that each artist could not have made alone.

A Haunting Halloween play with music
Set in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina in the 1930s, 'Dark of the Moon' by HoWard Richardson and William Berney, is an enduring classic of American Theatre, which has been in near constant production since its 1945 New York Premiere. Described as a combination of 'Romeo and Juliet' and 'The Crucible', 'Dark of the Moon' is at once a compelling love story and a stark dissection of what happens when two radically contrasting cultures collide.

Inspired by the folk song The Ballad of Barbara Allen, and featuring live music and song throughout, 'Dark of the Moon' revolves around the dilemma of a Witch Boy, John, who falls in love with a Mountain Girl, the 'wild child' Barbara Allen. In order to be with her, John must leave the Witch World behind him and for her part, Barbara is prepared to become an outcast from her family and neighbours. Together they face an uncertain future - a future inexorably shaped by the communities they have left behind.

By HoWard Richardson and William Berney
Directed by Mary Arnault
