Following in the footsteps of its two predecessors (The MOMologues and MOMologues 2: Off to School) creators Lisa Rafferty, Stefanie Cloutier and Sheila Eppolito have scheduled a benefit staged reading of MOMologues 3: The Final Push tonight, May 16, 7:30 pm, at The Company Theatre Centre for the Arts, 30 Accord Park Drive, Norwell.
Featuring a celebrity cast including Melissa McMeekin (seen recently on '30 Rock',) Erica McDermott ('The Fighter' and 'Irish Whisper',) and Boston actors Paula Markowicz and Ilyse Robbins, MOMologues 3: The Final Push showcases all the fun that is being a mom during the middle school and high school years. Do sarcasm and bitterness play a part? Just guess.
The MOMologues was born when director and co-writer Rafferty searched in vain for an honest look at motherhood. When she couldn’t find one, she took to the computer keyboard, enlisting friends and fellow moms Cloutier and Eppolito. “We started these comedies when our children were infants – to have nurtured the shows as we raised our kids in real time is a rare treat,” says Rafferty.
In the MOMologues tradition, the read-through performance will be a benefit, this staged reading for Operation Military Kids, the U.S. Army's collaborative effort to support children and youth affected by military deployment. In Massachusetts alone, 13,000 military kids reside. Operation Military Kids’ goal is to connect military children with local resources to foster a sense of community support and well-being.
Tickets are $22 and proceeds will benefit Operation Military Kids. For more information, visit www.operationmilitarykids.org.
