The Charlestown Working Theater will remount its acclaimed production of The Odyssey for six final area performances, November 6 - 21. The Odyssey is adapted and performed by CWT Co-Directors Jennifer Johnson and John Peitso, and played last winter to sold?out audiences.
The Odyssey is an adaptation of Homer's epic poem for two people traveling together in a small boat, sailing across a half-real, half imaginary landscape. "We felt that ultimately the story of "The Odyssey" was the story of two people, Odysseus and Penelope, trying to remember and return to each other. In the performance we are literally in a boat, a fifteen-foot rowboat" says Jennifer Johnson, co-creator of the performancE. Johnson and Peitso retell this tale of exile and return in fragments, using original and adapted music, text, image, and physicality "It's an adventure but it is also the intimate story of return that is as immediate today as it was thousands of years ago" continues Johnson. The Odyssey, created and performed by CWT Co-Directors Jennifer Johnson and John Peitso runs from November 6 - 21, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm.
