Star of television, film and theater, Chad Allen, will lead the cast of the hilarious hit play, The Little Dog Laughed, at TheaterWorks, Hartford's home for contemporary theater.  Chad Allen appeared as a series regular on Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman, Our House, My Two Dads and St. Elsewhere as well as the Donald Strachey Mysteries films on Here! TV.  Broadway star Candy Buckley, and two exciting newcomers, Jeremy Jordan and Amanda Perez, are also featured in this riotous Tony-nominated comedy by Douglas Carter Beane, which runs January 25 through March 9, 2008 at TheaterWorks' chic underground venue in downtown Hartford.  Audiences should note that the production contains nudity and explicit sexual content.

The Little Dog Laughed debuted Off-Broadway to sold-out houses.  The show quickly moved to Broadway and scored a Tony Award nomination for Best New Play.  "In this lacerating look at Hollywood morality, a barracuda in high heels, über-agent Diane (Candy Buckley) is out to land her client, Mitchell (Chad Allen) the movie role of a lifetime by any means necessary.  When Mitchell starts to fall for a male escort ( Jeremy Jordan) who just happens to have a girlfriend (Amanda Perez), Diane's plans begin to unravel.  The big question:  can she just keep Mitchell in the closet long enough to land this make-or-break career move?" explain press notes.

The Little Dog Laughed is directed by TheaterWorks' Associate Artistic Director, Rob Ruggiero.  The production's design team includes Adrian W. Jones (set), David R. Zyla (costumes), Thomas Dunn (lighting) and Zachary Williamson (sound).  Production manager is Michael Lenaghan.

The Little Dog Laughed runs January 25 through March 9 at TheaterWorks, 233 Pearl Street in downtown Hartford (wheelchair accessible).  Performances are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30PM; Friday and Saturday at 8PM with matinees on Sundays at 2:30PM.  There are also Saturday matinees on February 23, March 1 & 8.  The show opens to the press on Friday, February 1st at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $37 for weeknights and matinees; $47 for Friday and Saturday evenings.  Seating is general admission.  Center reserved seats are $11 extra.  College-age student rush tickets are $11 at show time with valid school ID (subject to availability).  Special discounts are available for groups of 11 or more.  A limited number of complimentary tickets for residents of downtown Hartford are available for select performances, courtesy of United Technologies (call for details).
