Casting Announced for CHICAGO in Provincetown

CHICAGO, the #1 longest running American musical in Broadway history will be making its Outer Cape premiere when Peregrine Theatre Ensemble opens the show at Provincetown's newly renovatEd Fishermen Hall. Celebrating their 5th Anniversary season, Peregrine Theatre Ensemble continues to push the boundaries of professional theatre in Provincetown, Massachusetts by presenting the evocative and jazzy classic - CHICAGO, with music by John Kander, Lyrics by Fred Ebb, and a book by Ebb and Bob Fosse, follows murderesses Velma Kelly and Roxie Hart who find themselves on death row together and fight for the fame that will keep them from the gallows in 1920s. As the opening prologue states, "Ladies and Gentleman. You are about to witness a story of murder, greed, corruption, violence, exploitation, adultery and treachery. All the things we all hold near and dear to our hearts." Chicago. The musical has found worldwide success earning 6 TONY Awards, 2 Olivier Awards, a Grammy, and the Oscar for best picture.

 

At the helm of Peregrine Theatre Ensemble's administration team is Boston Conservatory alum and Executive Director, Adam Berry. Best known as one of the Executive Producers and stars of the hit TV show KINDRED SPIRITS on TLC and formally of Ghost Hunters on the SYFY CHANNEL. When he isn't hunting ghosts with his paranormal partner Amy Bruni he is running a non-profit theater company with his husband and Artist Director of Peregrine, Ben Berry in Provincetown, MA. Berry says, "We are so thrilled to finally be able to produce CHICAGO the musical in Provincetown, Ma. It's rare to be able to secure the rights to a show that is currently running on Broadway and we are honored. Our version of this production, directed by Kyle Pleasant, is a fresh, new, and unexpected look at an American Musical classic. You may have seen the movie or the production on Broadway, however you haven't really seen Chicago until you have seen this incarnation. I am overflowing with excitement to share this production with our community and those that are on vacation for the summer. It will truly be a 'MUST SEE'."

Peregrine Theatre Ensemble is a professional performing arts company aiming to continue the tradition of quality theatre that has enriched the unique culture of Provincetown for decades. Their goal is to produce works that are developed through a dedicated artistic process and reflect a wide array of theatrical genres. Over the past five years they have produced some of the most successful and award winning productions on Cape Cod, including: RENT, Hamlet, The Little Dog Laughed, Buyer & Cellar, CARRIE the musical, The Full Monty, A Midsummer Nights Dream and Jesus Christ Superstar. CHICAGO will be produced at the newly renovatEd Fishermen Hall, located at 12 Winslow Street Provincetown Ma. This multi-million dollar makeover includes comfortable new seating, lighting, sound and AIR CONDITIONING.

The cast of Peregrine Theatre Ensemble's (PTE) production of CHICAGO features some of the best and most talented professional students and graduates from around the country. Featuring: Katie O'Rourke (The Boston Conservatory at Berklee) Velma Kelly; Maddie Garbaty (NYU Tisch) Roxie Hart; Vivienne LaBarbera Matron Mama Morton; Ben Berry (University of Minnesota Guthrie) Billy Flynn; Matthew Houghland (NYU Grad Program) Mary Sunshine; Michael Burke (University of Michigan) Amos Hart. Female Ensemble: Carly Cherone, Melody Morrow (The Boston Conservatory at Berklee); female dance captain Elizabeth Scamardella, Francesca Endres (Marymount Manhattan College); Mikayla Elliott, Mackenzie Koehne (American Musical and Dramatic Academy). Male Ensemble: male dance captain TJ Newton, Dean Andrew Ford (PPAS); Alec Reiss (Wagner College); Adolfo Ortiz-Feder, Evan Hussey (Marymount Manhattan College); Daniel Estrella (Michigan).

Production and design include: Director/Choreographer Kyle Pleasant and Musical Director Emily Erickson with Assistant Choreographer Drew Minard. Production team includes: Ellen Rousseau Scenic Design; Seth Bodie Costume Design; Gifford Williams Lighting Design; Howard Vigorita Sound Design; Chad Hayduk Wig & Makeup Design; Bella Tasha Production Stage Manager; Molly Rocca Assistant Stage Manager; Chanthoeun Hart Varon-Collins Intern and assistant to production; Patron Saint of Peregrine Carolyn Collins; Artistic Director Ben Berry; Executive Director Adam Berry. The Provincetown Community Compact is Peregrine's fiscal sponsor. The Compact provides Peregrine Theatre Ensemble with a subsidiary 501(c)3 status and administrative services that enable donors to make secure tax-deductible contributions.

July 5th 2017 -TOWNIE NIGHT! For this performance only all tickets are FREE to locals from Eastham to Provincetown. These special tickets may be picked up the day of the show in person at the box office only with a valid photo ID.
