The cast of Roller Disco The Musical! began rehearsals in Harvard Square on Tuesday, May 1. Preview performances at OBERON (2 Arrow Street, Cambridge, Massachusetts) began Wednesday, May 30. The musical opened to through-the-roof-across-the-board rave reviews on Wednesday, June 13.
Through all of this theatrical hoopla the stalwart cast hardly removed their roller skates. They took hours and hours of skating lessons on roller skates. They rehearsed for hours and hours on roller skates. They got to the theatre hours and hours early to warm-up on roller skates. They practiced their lifts on roller skates. They practiced their jumps on roller skates. They skated around their apartments on roller skates. Some of them even roller-skated to work.
After a collective 2,200 PERFORMANCE hours; 6,864 REHEARSAL hours, 1,056 TECH hours and another 890 PRIVATE LESSON hours; the cast of Roller Disco The Musical! has collectively skated over 10,000 miles.
10,000 miles – for their art, their audiences and their salary.
The obvious perks being the rave reviews, the nightly standing ovations and the miraculous shape each and every one of them has achieved.
THEY ARE THE MOST PHYSICALLY FIT CAST IN AN 800-MILE RADIUS.
