Cape Rep's 2016 season continues with The Woman in Black, by Stephen Mallatratt and Susan Hill. This classic ghost story is the second longest running play in London's West End. Arthur Kipps, a middle-aged solicitor, is tortured by an episode from his past when, while settling the estate of an elderly recluse, he is visited by a woman in black, a figure who terrifies the locals. He hires an actor and a theater to help him reenact his experience, and exorcise the specter that haunts his life.
Damian Baldet, who appeared in last season's hit production Outside Mullingar, makes his Cape Rep directorial debut. He has a terrific production team that includes set designer Ryan McGettigan and costume designer Carol Sherry of this season's My Name is Asher Lev, and lighting designer Phil Kong whose most recent work at Cape Rep was Failure: A Love Story. Sound Designer Ken Chamberlain joins the collaborative team of this show that is sure to raise the hair on the the back of many an audience member's necks.
Equity actors Sean Dillon and Richard Sullivan tell the story. Dillon most recently appeared at Cape Rep in The Beauty Queen of Leenane and Sullivan was last seen in La Cage aux Folles. The two last worked together in Cape Rep's Sunday in the Park with George.
