Cape Rep Theatre will produce the classic Broadway Musical My Fair Lady by Allan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe as part of the 2009 Indoor Theatre Season. Kim Weild, Associate Director of Broadway's Blithe Spirit starring Angela Lansbury, directs and Choreographs. Scott Storr will provide musical direction. Victoria Flores is the Production Stage Manager. Lighting Design will be by Herrick Goldman and Susan Nicholson, John David Paul will provide set design, costume design will be provided by Lisa Renee Jordan
The cast is led by Alison Weller as Eliza Doolittle. Ms. Weller is a veteran of numerous Cape Rep productions. Most recently she appeared in the title role in 2002's Lady in the Dark. She has appeared on Broadway in Coram Boy. As a member of the Civilians, she was recently seen in This Beautiful City at the Vineyard Theatre.
The cast also includes David Eiduks, Jean Bates, Andrew Cranin, Caitlin Collins, Glenn Wall, Daniel Greenwood, Barbara Rosser, Troy Armand Barboza, Martin Allegretti, Elizabeth Clark, Jared Hagan, Meghan Magrath, Chris Schultz, Kelly Strandemo, Susan Terner and Corey Wiesner.
Based on George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion, My Fair Lady tells the story of a cockney flower girl, Eliza Doolittle and her unlikely relationship with a prominent linguistics professor, Henry Higgins. Featuring one of Broadway's most recognizable and enduring scores, My Fair Lady first opened on Broadway in 1956. It went on to win 4 Tony Awards and run for six and a half years, becoming one of the longest-running musicals of all-time.
