Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival's Brian Zeger Returns with Imani, 8/1-2

The Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival (CCCMF), celebrating 37 years as Cape Cod's premiere presenter of summer chamber music, presents Brian Zeger Returns with Imani in two concerts on Monday, August 1, 7:30 pm, at Church of the Holy Spirit, 204 Monument Road, Orleans, and on August 2, 7 pm at Cotuit Center for the Arts, 4404 Falmouth Road (Route 28), Cotuit.

Brian Zeger Returns with Imani features former CCCMF Artistic Director Zeger on piano in a reprise appearance with Imani Winds, a Grammy-nominated African-American wind quintet. The ensemble collaboration was widely applauded in their premiere Festival appearance in 2015 in Provincetown. This season's repertoire features music ranging from Ravel to Poulenc enhanced by jazz works and compositions written solely for the quintet.

Widely recognized as a leading collaborative pianist, administrator and educator Brian Zeger has performed with many of the world's greatest singers including Marilyn Horne, Deborah Voigt, Anna Netrebko, Susan Graham, René Pape, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Frederica von Stade, Piotr Beczala, Bryn Terfel, Joyce DiDonato, Denyce Graves and Adrianne Pieczonka in an extensive concert career has taken him to the premiere concert halls throughout the United States and abroad. His new recordings released this season include Preludios - Spanish songs with Isabel Leonard - and a recording of Strauss and Wagner lieder with Adrianne Pieczonka, both for the Delos label. Last season Delos released Dear Theo: 3 Song Cycles by Ben Moore with Paul Appleby, Susanna Phillips and Brett Polegato. He has served as a prominent guest at many summer festivals including Aspen, Ravinia, Caramoor, Aldeburgh, and Santa Fe and enjoyed chamber music collaborations with the Borromeo and Brentano Quartets, An die Musik, the New York Philharmonic Chamber Ensembles and with Bernard Greenhouse, Glenn Dicterow, Eugene Drucker and Paula Robison. He has also made concerto appearances with the Boston Pops, multiple concert appearances at the White House and United States Supreme Court and appeared with Deborah Voigt and Frederica von Stade on the telecast of the Metropolitan Opera's Gala saluting Joseph Volpe.

In addition to Zeger's distinguished concert career, he also serves as Artistic Director of the Vocal Arts Department at The Juilliard School and the Executive Director of the Metropolitan Opera Lindemann Young Artists Development Program. Previously he had served for many seasons as the director of the vocal program at the Steans Institute at the Ravinia Festival as well as on the faculties of the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, the Chautauqua Institute, the Mannes College of Music and the Peabody Conservatory. He has given master classes for numerous institutions, including The Guildhall School of Music in London, Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Tanglewood Music Center, the Marilyn Horne Foundation and Stanford University.

Extolled by the Washington Post as "exuding a sultry sophistication during performances", Imani Winds has established itself as one of the most successful chamber music ensembles in the United States. Since 1997, quintet has taken a unique path, carving out a distinct presence in the classical music world with its dynamic playing, culturally poignant programming, adventurous collaborations, and inspirational outreach programs. With two member composers and a deep commitment to commissioning new work, the group is enriching the traditional wind quintet repertoire while meaningfully bridging European, American, African and Latin American traditions. Their touring schedule has taken them across the globe, with performances in the nation's major concert venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, Disney Hall, and Kimmel Center. The group is frequently engaged by the premier chamber music series in Boston, San Francisco, Portland, Philadelphia and New York, and have also played virtually every major university performing arts series.

As Cape Cod's premiere presenter of summer chamber music, CCCMF's 37th summer season features 13 compelling concerts from July 29 through August 26 at 7:30 pm in locations throughout the region.

Tickets ordered on or before June 30: $34 General Admission; $15 for students over 18; Free for attendees 18 and under. General admission to three or more concerts $32. Tickets to Emerson String Quartet's concert are $50 (individually or as part of a three concert series).

Tickets ordered on or after July 1: $38 General Admission; $15 for students over 18; Free for attendees 18 and under. General Admission to three or more concerts $36. Tickets to Emerson String Quartet's concert are $55 (individually or as part of a three concert series).

Special benefit premium tickets are $100 to $125, including reserved seating and a pre-concert or post-concert reception for concerts on August 1, 4 and 9.

Festival seating is limited to venue capacity, advance purchase is recommended. Tickets ordered online are available at will call at the performances. Tickets may also be purchased by calling or visiting the box office at 508-247-9400 or at 3 Main Street Unit 6, North Eastham. Box office hours are 10 am to 3 pm, Monday through Friday. Phone orders are available until 12 noon on the day of each concert.
