Called a "pugilistic, punch-drunk comedy" (DC Theatre Scene) and "A terrific comedy with an unprintable name" (New York Times), Mike Bartlett's c*ckopens at Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater June 16. The cast of c*ckis Nicholas Carter, Lee Seymour, Madeleine Lambert and Christopher Chisholm, directed by Jeffry George.

John has been in a stable relationship with his boyfriend for a number of years, but when the two take a break, he unexpectedly falls in love with a woman. Torn between the two, and filled with guilt and conflicting emotions, he doesn't know which way to turn. Both are willing to wait for him to make a decision - and both are prepared to fight. With feathers ruffled, the world's oldest spectator sport commences....

The inspiration for c*ckcame during Bartlett's time in Mexico, where he did a playwright's exchange with Royal Court Theatre. He was fascinated that cockfights were still happening and - thinking of the intensity of some arguments - placed the action of c*ckin a cockpit of its own.

British playwright Mike Bartlett has been Writer-In-Residence at the National Theatre, and Pearson Playwright in Residence at The Royal Court Theatre. His play Love, Love, Love won Best New Play in the 2011 Theatre Awards UK. c*ckwon an Olivier Award in 2010 for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre. He won the Writer's Guild Tinniswood and Imison prizes for Not Talking, and the Old Vic New Voices Award for Artefacts. Bartlett's television seriesThe Town was nominated for a BAFTA for Breakthrough Talent.
