Bridge Rep and Playhouse Creatures Team for Emily Mann's MRS. PACKARD

After the acclaimed LIBERTINE, Bridge Rep and Playhouse Creatures are teaming up for Emily Mann's MRS. PACKARD, inspired by true events.

Illinois, 1861. Proclaimed insane by her husband, Elizabeth Packard is committed against her will to the Jacksonville Insane Asylum. An astonishingly accurate chronicle of true historical events, this stunning American drama follows one woman's struggle to fight for her life and, in the process, right a system gone wrong.

Penned by American theater icon, Emily Mann, the play was originally staged at the McCarter Theatre in Princeton, NJ, where Mann has served as Artistic Director for more than two decades. The upcoming production, which will run at the Multicultural Arts Center in Cambridge, will be the play's first in any other region of the country, and Mann has been involved directly in the process.

After co-producing a critically lauded production of Stephen Jeffreys' The Libertine in 2013 (Elliot Norton Award Nomination, Best Production; Independent Reviewers of New England Nomination, Best Director), Bridge Rep will once again team up with Playhouse Creatures Theatre Company of New York to bring this project to life. Producing Artistic Directors Olivia D'Ambrosio (Bridge Rep, playing Mrs. Packard) and Joseph W. Rodriguez (Playhouse Creatures, playing Dr. McFarland), lead a sprawling cast of 18 actors, including prominent Boston-based players Steven Barkhimer and Sarah Newhouse. The production will be helmed by emerging director Emily Ranii.
