Boston Children's Theatre is bringing two holiday favorites back this year by popular demand - A Charlie Brown Christmas and The Velveteen Rabbit.
Fans of the Peanuts gang can enjoy everyone's favorite holiday television special - A Charlie Brown Christmas, live on stage. This new stage production debuted last year and is back bigger and better than ever. Join Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, and all the Peanuts gang as they produce their own Christmas pageant and ultimately learn the true meaning of Christmas. Directed by award-winning BCT Executive Artistic Director, Burgess Clark, A Charlie Brown Christmas is a present the whole family can enjoy.
Returning for a ninth magical season, The Velveteen Rabbit has become one of Boston's most cherished family, holiday traditions. With beautifully hand-crafted puppets by Marjorie Tudor, this annual production will delight audiences of all ages with the story of a young boy and the endearing velveteen rabbit that changes his life. Based on the beloved children's book by Margery Williams, The Velveteen Rabbit is certain to warm your heart.
"The Velveteen Rabbit has become a BCT tradition," Executive Director and Producer Toby Schine shared. "Margery Williams wrote The Velveteen Rabbit in 1922 and it still remains one of the most cherished children's books of all time. Boston area families have made our BCT production a holiday tradition."
Schine is hopeful that A Charlie Brown Christmas will also continue to be part of the BCT holiday tradition. "We had such a phenomenal response to A Charlie Brown Christmas last year that it was a no-brainer to bring it back. The response was so great that this year we are presenting A Charlie Brown Christmas at three different theaters."
The Velveteen Rabbit will run December 2 - December 17, 2017 at the Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center of the Arts in Boston's South End. A Charlie Brown Christmas will be presented at the Larcom Theatre in Beverly, MA from November 25 - December 10, the Regent Theatre in Arlington from December 7 - December 24, and at the Calderwood Pavilion from December 20 - 23.
