Berkshire Theatre Group Presents A CHRISTMAS CAROL, Now thru 12/30

Berkshire Theatre Group has announced the reprise of its annual community production of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, adapted by Eric Hill and presented for the second time at The Colonial Theatre. A Christmas Carol is sponsored by Greylock Federal Credit Union, Guardian Life Insurance, Blantyre, Country Curtains and The Red Lion Inn. This community production is dedicated to the memory of Jack Fitzpatrick.

A Christmas Carol runs tonight, December 15-30 at The Colonial Theatre. Tickets to A Christmas Carol are $25-$50. Contact the Colonial Ticket Office at 111 South Street, Pittsfield by calling 413-997-4444. Tickets can also be bought online atwww.berkshiretheatregroup.org. The Ticket Office is open Monday-Friday 10am-5pm, Saturdays 10am-2pm or on any performance day from 10am until curtain.

Revel in the joy and redemptive power of Christmas as told in the timeless tale of Ebenezer Scrooge, the infamous miser who is reformed and shown the error of his ways by four spirits. Journey back to Victorian England and experience the classic story filled with terrific turns and infused with holiday music. Before each performance of A Christmas Carol arrive early and be treated to a performance by BTG's Children's Chorus of Holiday music and sing-a-longs in The Garage. On December 22, visit Santa and Mrs. Claus in The Garage from 11am to 1pm.

Artistic Director/CEO, Kate Maguire, comments that "In 2006, we introduced Berkshire audiences to our production of A Christmas Carol at our Unicorn Theatre. The production instantly became an annual favorite. Last year-we moved to The Colonial Theatre where A Christmas Carol has found a wonderful new home. The Colonial is a perfect setting for this timeless tale about goodness and greed. The Garage, our lobby space, gives audiences the opportunity to have a complete evening out with pre-show entertainment and holiday snacks at this most treasured time of year."

Eric Hill will return as director and in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge, and Associate Education Artist, Travis G. Daly, will assistant direct. Returning BTG company members include Michael Brahce, Ralph Petillo, Gail Ryan, Tom Towne, Christopher-Michael Vecchia and Margaret Wild. Joining the community cast this year will be graduate students from BTG's partner academic institution, Brandeis University, Sarah Elizabeth Bedard, Nicole Dalton, Sam Gillam and JoNathan Young; four of Berkshire Theatre Group's Artists-in-Residence, Lily Christie, Jacob Gold, Cody Lee Miller and Courtney Wood; in addition to 27 Berkshire County children.

Eric Hill (Director, Adaptor) will return to direct and play Ebenezer Scrooge for the seventh year in a row. This past summer Mr. Hill directed Berkshire Theatre Group's production of A Chorus Line. Additional BTG directing credits include The Who's Tommy, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Macbeth, Endgame, Faith Healer, The Einstein Project, Amadeus, The Glass Menagerie, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nestand The Caretaker. Previous acting credits include A Man for All Seasons, Dimetosand The Father. Mr. Hill also serves as the Louis, Francis and Jeffrey Sachar Professor of Theater Arts at Brandeis University and lives in Richmond, MA with his wife Kate Maguire and son Alexander.
