Actor Becki Dennis stars as a survivor of childhood sexual abuse in the hopeful new indie feature, SPIN THE PLATE. Directed by Eric R. Eastman, the film will make its World Premiere at the Boston International Film Festival on April 13th in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Based on Donna Anastasi's award-winning novel of the same name, SPIN THE PLATE follows Jo Orsiano (Becki Dennis), a guarded tattoo artist with a damaged soul and tough exterior. A chance encounter with an awkward, seemingly poor, Bible-touting man on a Boston city bus triggers a transformation to heal her heart and childhood wounds. Together, they seek justice and meaning in their lives as a romance blossoms, but he's hiding something that she will soon be forced to face.

Becki is excited to help bring this vital story to audiences, explaining "Although this film has been in the works for years, its release right now couldn't be timelier. With the current #MeToo movement shedding light on sexual abuse and misconduct across all industries, and rightfully so, we must now also turn our attention to the often forgotten victims of child sexual abuse in the home."

After being cast, the project was so important to Becki that she stepped in to help associate produce it with producer and screenwriter Tom Anastasi. She previously produced the short film, Mildred's Millions, which screened at the Boston International Film Festival and several others on the circuit. She also recently started the production banner InspireWorks, Inc., with plans to continue creating uplifting projects, such as a script she wrote titled, Time to Go.

Born and raised in the Boston area, Becki caught her first big break when David O. Russell handpicked her to play Rebecca, a nanny and friend of Amy Adams' character in the celebrated film, American Hustle. She went on to land a role alongside Mark Wahlberg as the friendly receptionist in Seth MacFarlane's comedy sequel, Ted 2. It didn't take long for Hollywood to come calling and since making the move to Los Angeles three years ago, Becki has appeared on numerous television series, including: This Is Us, Fresh Off the Boat, Jane the Virgin, Speechless, GLOW, How to Get Away with Murder, Shameless, I'm Sorry, Life in Pieces, Pretty Little Liars, The Fosters, Pure Genius and The Young and the Restless.

Becki found her passion for performing at a young age in dance and school theatre productions. She went on to hone her craft at Point Park University's prestigious Conservatory of Performing Arts in Pittsburgh, where she earned a B.A. in Musical Theatre with additional studies at Emerson College, Berklee College of Music and Boston University. Today, Becki is a proud member of the esteemed Television Academy.
