Barrington Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Tristan Wilson, will present the sexy, millennial world premiere comedy Engagements by Lucy Teitler, from August 13-30 with a press opening Wednesday, August 19 at 7:30pm.
Directed by Louisa Proske (BSC debut), Engagements stars (in their BSC debuts) Amanda Quaid (Irish Rep's The Weir) as Lauren, Kate Loprest(First Date) as Allison, Adam Gerber (George Street Playhouse The Whipping Man) as Ryan, Phoebe Strole (Spring Awakening) as Catherine, andRobert David Grant (Yale Rep Hamlet) as Mark.
Engagements tells the story of Lauren, a very bright but slightly confused millennial who is spending her summer attending picture-perfect engagement parties. Lauren has no qualms when facing love's trials, but may have met her match in her best friend's boyfriend As the unforgettable heroine of this pitch-black anti-romantic comedy, Lauren navigates this midsummer nightmare as she weighs the value of her romantic life against the real significant other in her life, her best friend.

The production is designed by Brian Prather (sets), Beth Goldenberg (costumes), Yi Zhao (lights) and Kenneth Goodwin (sound). Paul Vella is the production stage manager.
Lucy Teitler (Playwright) BSC debut. Engagements received a workshop production at the Ensemble Studio Theatre March 2015, and is the first in an in-progress trilogy about Love in the Age of Optimization. Lucy's work has been produced Off-Off Broadway at the Ensemble Studio Theatre, the Atlantic Theater, and the Gene Frankel Theatre. She was a staff writer on NBC's series quarterlife, and her prose has been published in VICE, the New York Observer, New York Magazine and elsewhere. A graduate of Yale and Boston Universities, Lucy is represented by CAA.

Engagements will be presented at the St. Germain Stage at the Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center, 36 Linden Street, Pittsfield. Performances Tuesday-Saturday at 7:30pm, Thursdays and Saturdays at 4pm (excluding August 13, 15 and 20), and Sunday at 3pm. Press Opening: Wednesday, August 19 at 7:30pm. Tickets start at $40.
